Rock Shyt

For D.I.T.C.'s weekly Monday release, Fat Joe, Diamond D, and Lord Finesse step up on "Rock Shyt."

Early on in 2016, the Diggin' in the Crates Crew has revived the spirit with which they dominated New York in the late '90s. Every Monday, they've been releasing new collabs from various members of the crew. Today's drop, "Rock Shyt," comes from Fat Joe, Diamond D, and Lord Finesse, who doesn't produce, and, instead, hands over that duty to Supa Ugly.

The sampling here is crazy, with a sharp guitar riff and an emphatic "woo" providing a cinematic backdrop for the classic street rhymes of the D.I.T.C. emcees, who haven't lost much of their bite in their veteran years. Indeed, they believe their music will stay relevant "long after the tight jean era."

Quotable Lyrics

Don't play yourself, Nintendo
And I'm criminal-minded, I keep a gat at every window
N*ggas get different when you been through bars
But you never lose friends, you simply learn who the real ones are

- Fat Joe
