Nike releases "Fro-be" version of the Lakers' 2018-19 Icon jersey.

In celebration of "Kobe Bryant Day" today, August 24, Nike is releasing several special edition sneakers, including the newest model of the Kobe A.D., as well as multiple limited edition colorways of the Kobe 1 Protro. Additionally, Nike has launched a new #8 Kobe Bryant jersey featuring the Los Angeles Lakers' 2018-19 jersey redesign.

Similar to the iconic uniforms worn during the 1980s Showtime Era, the gold 2018-19 Nike Swingman Icon Edition jersey features the number drop shadow and a rounded neckline. The jersey is retailing for $119.99 - click here to purchase.

In addition to the #8 Kobe Bryant Nike Swingman Icon edition jersey, fans can buy plenty of other Kobe Bryant jerseys and apparel via the NBA store, including his All-Star jerseys of old and select Mitchell & Ness throwbacks with both the #8 and #24.

In total, there are three uniforms that the Los Angeles Lakers have unveiled for the upcoming season, including the gold Icon edition, a purple Statement edition and a white Association edition.

Per the Lakers' press release:

The Icon edition is the primary color uniform that represents the unique identity and rich heritage of each of the 30 teams in the league, for which the Lakers have adopted their gold jerseys.

The Statement edition is inspired by teams’ desire to make a bold statement. The Lakers purple Statement jersey features the addition of a black side panel.

The Association edition pays homage to the NBA, as every team has the traditional white jersey in their collection.
