Relive some of the best Extreme Rules moments ahead of tonight's PPV.

WWE Extreme Rules, the final PPV before SummerSlam, is slated to kickoff tonight at 7pm ET with a one-hour kickoff show starting at 6pm. There are a dozen matches on the card, including a steel cage match between Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens, a 30-minute Iron Match between Seth Rollins and Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler, and an Extreme Rules bout featuring Nia Jax and WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss.

The name of the event, "Extreme Rules," stems from several matches being contested under hardcore wrestling regulations, as a nod to Extreme Championship Wrestling aka ECW. The PPV was first established in 2009, making tonight's event at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh just the 10th Extreme Rules show in the company's history.

Scroll down for some of the best moments since the PPV's inception.

In the main event of the inaugural 2009 Extreme Rules pay-per-view, Jeff Hardy defeated Edge in an exhilarating ladder match to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The match featured several big spots, including both men being thrown through different ladders, but it's what happened after the bout that makes this main event even more memorable moment.

As Hardy celebrated his title victory, CM Punk came down to the ring with his Money In The Bank briefcase that he won at Wrestlemania XXV, guaranteeing a title match opportunity at the time of his choosing. Following two executions of the GTS, Punk pinned Hardy to capture the World Championship for the second time.

Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe competed in an extreme rules match which ended with Samoa Joe putting the Coquina Clutch on Balor.

Joe won by TKO, his biggest WWE victory to date, to earn the right to challenge Lesnar at the "Great Balls of Fire" PPV.

Dean Ambrose was the first to secure a belt, defeating Kofi Kingston for the United States Championship. Later in the night, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns teamed up to defeat Daniel Bryan and Kane aka "Team Hell No" in a tornado tag match, winning their first Tag Team Championship.

After teaming with Kane at the 2013 Extreme Rules PPV, Daniel Bryan found himself facing off against The Big Red Machine at the 2014 event with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line.

Bryan successfully defended his newly won belt in an Extreme Rules Match that featured Kane falling through a flaming table and Bryan driving a forklift to the ring with his former tag partner lying on top  of a pallet. Bryan would later execute a flying headbutt from on top of the forklift, making for one of the most memorable moments in Extreme Rules history.

The main event of the 2016 Extreme Rules PPV pitted WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns against The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles. The match itself included plenty of interference from Styles' allies Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, as well as Reigns' relatives, The Usos.

In the end, Reigns retained much to the dismay of fans in attendance at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. However, WWE fans were ecstatic to see Seth Rollins crash Reigns' celebration. Rollins, who had been out of action for six months due to an injury, unexpectedly appeared and laid out the champ with a pedigree sending the crowd into a frenzy.
