IT signs with Nuggets for veteran's minimum.

Free agent point guard Isaiah Thomas has reached a one-year, $2 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, according to multiple reports. Thomas, 29, will now reunite with Nuggets head coach Mike Malone, who coached IT when he was a member of the Sacramento Kings during the 2013-14 season.

In the 2016-17 season with the Boston Celtics, Thomas averaged a career-high 28.9 points per game while leading the Cs to an Eastern Conference-best record of 53-29. The Celtics reached the Eastern Conference Finals that year but a hip injury kept Thomas sidelined as LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and the Cavs advanced to the NBA Finals. Prior to the injury, Thomas was eyeing a $100 million max contract extension.

As we know, Boston then traded Thomas to the Cavs that Summer as part of the Irving deal. In 15 games with the Cavs last season, Thomas averaged 14.7 points and 4.5 assists per game, before he was dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers at the NBA trade deadline. After appearing in 17 games for the Lakers, Thomas became a free agent and just yesterday agreed to sign with the Nuggets for the veteran's minimum.

He'll now come off the bench behind 21-year old Jamal Murray, who is entering his third NBA season. The Nuggets finished ninth in the Western Conference last season, finishing with a 46-36 record and one-game back of the seventh and eighth seeds.
