Will the new style change how well the show works?

Rick and Morty will be around for quite awhile, seeing as how Adult Swim ordered an additional 70 episodes of the hit series this past year. Although a release date for the new season has yet to be announced, Rick and Morty creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have been busy at work piecing together the fourth season of the show. The two talented showrunners sat down for an interview with Emmy Magazineand revealed that a new writing approach will be implemented for the upcoming season.

Harmon revealed that instead of writing the show from an A to B angle, he will instead focus on jokes and moments instead of the overall structure of the episode. The upcoming fourth season will focus on "moments first and structure second, rather than the other way around" according to the article. "The last thing I want is to be the guy who makes Rick and Morty sterile," Harmon stated, referring to his idea of changing the writing style. "We need to keep it fresh and continue to innovate. It helps to collaborate with someone like Justin. He has his disorders and I have mine, but it's hard to find a creative partnership where each thinks the other is a genius, and each is terrified of alienating the other or letting the other down. It's really, really hard to find partnerships like that. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing."
