Rico Pressely makes an interesting first impression on "Socialite."

It's been a big week for Rico Pressley. The Georgia-based rapper recently inked a deal with producer Mike WiLL Made-It, becoming the newest addition to the Ear Drummer family; for some context, the roster includes talents like Rae Sremmurd and Trouble (who dropped one of the year's best records in Edgewood). Suffice it to say, Pressley is in good hands, given Mike WiLL's recent track record. Still, he remains an unfamiliar voice in the game, leaving many fans wondering who they might be dealing with. Luckily, Rico came through with a pair of new singles to help familiarize fans with his presence.

Rest assured, it may take some getting used to. While the vibe and beat are instantly appealing, his intense falsetto is truly unlike anything we've ever heard. At times, it sounds like a gully rendition of Mickey Mouse; that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's certainly a little jarring upon initial listen. Once you get used to it, however, it's actually kind of hard. At the very least, it's a bout of originality in a game that often begs for some vocal diversity.

Overall, the first look at Rico Pressley is a interesting one; undeniably eccentric vibe, yet talented to be sure. Perhaps we'll have to wait and see how he develops, but for the most part, I can appreciate the strange and infectious "Socialite." In Mike WiLL we trust.

Quotable Lyrics

Fall back like who are you kiddin'
All these false accusations
This is not jealousy anymore, I think I turned this shit to vindictive
