WWE's annual Money In The Bank pay-per-view has become one of the company's signature events of the year, joining the "Big Four" of Survivor Series, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania.
WWE debuted the "Money In The Bank" ladder match at Wrestlemania 21 in 2005, and by 2010 the beloved match concept was spun off on to its own pay-per-view aptly named after the signature match.
The rules of the show's namesake ladder match are simple: The prize is a briefcase hanging above the ring which contains a contract for a championship match. That contract can be "cashed in" by the Money In The Bank winner at any point in the next 365 days, giving the briefcase holder a substantial advantage over whomever they target.
To date, there have been 19 Money In The Bank ladder match winners, almost all of whom successfully cashed-in the coveted championship match contract, and a select few who did so in grand fashion.

Randy Orton - SummerSlam 2013
Daniel Bryan defeated John Cena in the main event of SummerSlam in 2013 to finally capture his first WWE Championship. The grueling match lasted over 25 minutes and when it was all said and done confetti rained down from the rafters at Staples Center in celebration of Bryan's monumental victory.
The celebration was short lived, however.
Randy Orton casually walked down to the ring with his Money In The Bank briefcase in hand and watched as special guest referee, Triple H, hit Bryan with a pedigree in the middle of the ring. Orton cashed in with ease, turning heel in the process by aligning with "The Authority."
Edge - New Year's Revolution 2006
After winning the first ever Money In The Bank ladder match at Wrestlemania 21, Edge became the first WWE superstar to successfully cash in. It all went down at WWE's "New Year's Revolution" PPV in 2006, following an "Elimination Chamber" match in the main event.
John Cena outlasted the competition to retain the WWE Championship but as he was recovering in the ring Vince McMahon appeared on the stage to announce that Edge, aka "The Ultimate Opportunist," would be cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase.
Dean Ambrose - Money In The Bank 2016
WWE superstars who win the Money In The Bank ladder match have a 365-day window to cash in their title opportunity. Some opt for the slow play, waiting for the precise moment against the perfect opponent, while others, like Dean Ambrose, don't waste anytime getting to the belt.
Less than an hour after The Lunatic Fringe secured the coveted contract at the 2016 Money In The Bank PPV, he cashed in on his former Shield brother Seth Rollins, who had just defeated Roman Reigns.
Dolph Ziggler - Monday Night Raw 2013
The Monday Night Raw following Wrestlemania is typically an action packed event filled with surprises and exciting matches. April 8, 2013 falls in to that category thanks in part to Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler, who won the Money In The Bank briefcase in July of 2012, had attempted to cash in several times over the months since, but was never able to pull the trigger until the night after Wrestlemania 29.
He capitalized on a golden opportunity after champion Alberto Del Rio successfully defended his title against Jack Swagger. As Del Rio was nursing an ankle injury, Ziggler, with his then tag-team partner Big E and girlfriend AJ Lee, made his way to the ring and took advantage of the beaten down champ.
Seth Rollins - Wrestlemania 31
The greatest Money In The Bank cash in came at the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania.
Amidst a slugfest between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 31, Seth Rollins' music hit and he came sprinting down the ramp at Levi's Stadium with his briefcase in hand.
Rollins nailed his signature "curb stomp" finisher on both Lesnar and Reigns, ultimately pinning the latter in dramatic fashion to win the title.
