Battle rap is quickly growing as a culture. What was almost completely relegated to street corners and Youtube a few years ago has garnered national recognition, more tv programming, Pay-Per-View events, and other attention of the mainstream media. Hip Hop icons like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Drake have put on events for the battle scene and at this rate things can only continue to expand. That being the case, we’re here to keep you updated on all things battle rap. It’s always a great time to join the culture.

Hope you all had a good new year, battle fans. What better way to start off 2017 than with nearly a dozen new battles? If you saw the last edition, you know URL had a surprise for Christmas. Well we’ve got that for ya. KOTD had one as well, so it’s been a big couple of weeks. So sit back and enjoy these bars as always.

Jersey vs Carolina seems to be a winning formula for N.O.M.E. 6, as Tsu Surf vs T-Top lit up the net a couple weeks ago. Now Arsonal vs Brizz Rawsteen does the same.

Bender vs Pnut

What’s New In Battle Rap (Jan. 7)

In this “Ganik vs Gully” battle for KOTD, team Gully’s Pnut came in and, by pretty much all accounts, bodybagged the veteran Bender.

Gjonaj vs Raptor

What’s New In Battle Rap (Jan. 7)

It seems like Gjonaj has been everywhere lately, and now he can add Don’t Flop to that list of places he’s been. He and Raptor have both been getting a lot of praise lately, including this battle being voted as battle of the week on reddit’s r/rapbattles.

Dialect vs Math Hoffa

This battle ended up being one round, because both guys had their original battles cancelled due to no shows and agreed to battle each other instead. The crowd enjoyed this last minute clash, though.

Chess vs Ave

What’s New In Battle Rap (Jan. 7)

One of the most highly anticipated battles as of late got released as  a Christmas gift from URL. Chess and Ave are both huge names right now and they put on a show on one of the biggest stages out there.

Shotgun Suge vs. E. Ness

What’s New In Battle Rap (Jan. 7)

Some are calling this a return to form for Suge, which for him isn’t a great thing as Shotgun Suge used to be seen as one of the worst out there. E. Ness had the homefield advantage here in this “Cold Front” battle as well.

Charlie Clips vs Shotti P

What’s New In Battle Rap (Jan. 7)

King of the Dot treated their fans to a Christmas gift of their own, with this release from “Ganik vs Gully”. This battle lived up to the hype as well.

Pat Stay vs Tony D

What’s New In Battle Rap (Jan. 7)

This battle is most notable for being “former champ vs former champ”, as it features the past champions of King of the Dot and Don’t Flop. Both of these guys were the biggest names in their leagues a few years ago, which begs the question of why this battle missed its perfect moment in time.
