WMU hoops player being held without bond.
20-year old Western Michigan basketball player Joeviair Kennedy has been charged with the murder and armed robbery of a fellow student at an off-campus Kalamazoo apartment last week.
Kennedy reportedly shot and killed 19-year-old Jacob Jones during a robbery of a cellphone and money, he's currently being held without bond. The charging document claims others were present during the fatal shooting as well, although details have not yet been released.
According to the Detroit Free Press, an uncle, Lucious Kennedy, told WWMT-TV at the courthouse: “I don’t know who did it but I feel bad for the family. This ain’t my nephew.”
The school has suspended Kennedy and he's been scrubbed from the basketball team's website.
