Honestly I wouldn’t listen to the rest of Short Dawg’s mixtape (it’s out now Southern Flame Spitta 5), but an Ab-Soul feature caught my attention and I was pleasantly surprised. Not really sure how the two linked up, was I the only one who was surprised at the collabo? Either way, Soulo does not disappoint.
This was featured on the LA Leakers’ mixtape 2013 Draft Picks which features an assortment of rising rappers. This was a stand-out one for me as it was (yet again) a surprising collabo (I’m sure Rocks’ fans would not be expecting to hear him on a cut with Ink, and vice versa). The result though? Dope. Production from The Arsenals is on point. I really wanna hear more from these two. It’s an interesting combo.
DJ Muggs’upcoming album Bass For Your Face has some Gangsta Gibbs on it. And the track starts off, you know, like regular Gibbs hip-hop-style , but ends with quite the breakdown. That’s not usually my thing but I gotta give props to Gibbs for going in over it. I like Gibbs innovative-ness when it comes to ‘gangsta rap’ and in general, I think he just keeps getting sicker. Still unsure about the beat ending though.
Casey Veggies- Fuckwitchu
Young-lisped rapper Casey Veggies dropped off this smooth joint the other week for free. Can't complain about that. Really, this isn't anything too ground-breaking from Young Veggies, but if you like most of Casey's catalog of music, you'll like this too. It's your basic 'now I'm tryna fuck with you' song. I think every rapper has one. Still it'd be nice to hear something with a little more oumff to it from the rapper.
Obviously many people clicked this song for the production duo and perhaps the King Chip feature, as the r’n’b artist himself is relatively up-and-coming. And I’m not gunna lie, that’s also why I decided to include this song. I think Eric as an r’n’b artist definitely has some growth to do, but peep Chip’s verse at 2:26 min mark. Another collaboration I was kinda surprised to see. I guess that was the theme of this week’s UA.
HNHH's "Underrated Audio" puts you on not-too-mainstream music you might have missed from the past week.
Whatup homeboys and homegirls, Underrated Audio has been on a bit of a hiatus, although you probably didn't notice. Mainly it was because it was the holidays and I was chilling in the Holy Land (Israel). I listened to some Hebrew rap while over there, but it just wasn't the same 'cause I couldn't understand what the fuck anyone was saying, which is obviously like 90% of enjoying a rap song. Anyways, now I'm back on American soil and back on some English-speaking rap, so UA is back in progress. Also changed things up with the gallery format and all that shit, just for your viewing pleasure.
