Trav shows Purpp some love onstage.

Earlier in the year, Travis Scott announced his Cactus Jack Records imprint, and since its launch he recently added South Florida-reared upstart Smokepurpp to the roster.

During his set at the RARE Festival in Orlando, he brought out his new signee and, presumably, mentee for a live performance of the two artists’ “Fingers Blue” collaborative track. “And I just know this ’bout to be like the illest nigga of this motherfucking generation,” Travis said before bringing out Purpp, whose Deadstar project arrived last month.

It seems that Travis is finally on his way to being the guiding light he seemed to want to be when it came to launching Cactus Jack in the first place, collaborating with and elevating new and upcoming artists on a well-deserved stage. “I’m not doing it to have financial control over my music,” the “Butterfly Effect” artist told Numero during an interview.

“I want first and foremost to help other artists, launch new names, to provide opportunities. I want to do for them what happened to me, but better. By better I mean no bullshit. No lying to the artists about album release dates or the budgets of videos and albums.” As for Somekepurrp, dreams have become reality as he once expressed that his goal has always been to end up on the Cactus Jack imprint since signing with Universal Music Group.

Currently, all eyes are on Trav’s next moves as we await his highly-anticipated solo Astroworld and the collaborative project with Quavo. During a performance in August he revealed to the audience that he’d be slowing it down in the public scope. “I think this might be the last club I’ma do until my album come out and shit,” he said. “I’m about to go away, in hiding for a like a couple weeks, couple months.”
