The Roots have announced the title for their new album. "& Then You Shoot Your Cousin" will be out later this year or in early 2014.

The Roots just announced the stacked lineup for their 6th annual "Roots Picnic", and have now hit us with some more big news, their new album's title.

According to Questlove, the album will be titled & Then You Shoot Your Cousin, though it's still in its early stages. "We're in the genesis of that right now," Quest stated, indicating that the album wouldn't be ready until at least the end of the year, if not early in 2014. Quest has been busy working on the highly-anticipated follow up to D'angelo's Voodoo, which is due out this year.

On top of all that, Quest reports that the group has recorded an entire album with legendary rocker, Elvis Costello. Quest says the sessions with Elvis were highly productive. "We have the tightest 12-14 song collection out of about 20 songs that we made." he said.

Once all his side projects are out of the way Quest will get started on the recording of the new Roots album, the group's first studio album since 2011's Grammy nominated Undun.
