#TBT: Chris Brown's Smash Singles

The mere fact that Chris Brown has been around long enough to garner a Throwback Thursday may have you feeling tad old on this Thanksgiving. However, after getting an early start at age sixteen, the now-twenty-six year old Brown has enough back catalogue to fill up a list of throwbacks with relative ease.

Brown has gone through a number of stages in his career: the "Stomp the Yard" actor, hip hop's go-to crooner, the bad decision-maker. You name it and the pop star has likely gone through it during a career that is filled with enough ups and downs to make for an interesting "Behind The Music" one of these days.

If you're fond of Brown, then you probably remember him best for his singles. Here's some of his most successful tunes he ever released or was featured on.

Brown's first single hit number one in a number of countries, including the US, Australia, and New Zealand. With Juelz Santana in tow, the crossover single acted as Brown's first solo single, and anchored his self-titled debut to double-platinum status.

Here's your typical mid-00's club banger: a mid-tempo affair with stabbing synth and a cat-calling titled. Produced by Dre & Vidal, the track went platinum.

The other biggest R&B sensation of this era was definitely T-Pain. Between him and Brown, the two laid more hooks than a fisherman during these years, ya dig? "Shawty Get Loose" unites the two stars alongside Lil Mama (aka 'Lil Who?').

Where "Shawty Get Loose" maybe fell short, "Kiss Kiss" made up for in regards to the Teddy Pain / C-Breezy collab we all yearned for so dearly. You might not know what the hell they're saying in the chorus, but you are always sure to chime in and sing along anyways, right?

Move aside Ed Sheeran, Brown's been doing that acoustic guitar R&B-pop hybrid for years! This is probably still a guilty pleasure for at least half the trolls who frequent this site.

Everything about this song is very outdated. From the over-produced, over-the-top pop chorus to the jurassic cellphone at the beginning of the music video, here is a slice of 2008. 

Honestly, with this one we're just going to have to apologize. You're going to have this stuck in your head for the rest of the day. You're going to annoy your family with it during Thanksgiving dinner. It might cause serious arguments, maybe even a domestic violence debate. 

Let's keep it real: this song is pretty dope, still. Diplo's beat is fire, and each artist brings their A-game to the table. Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes body their verses, and Brown lays down some proper R&B/rap crossover that's dope enough to not get embarrassed when Busta goes Twista on 'em.
