Hailing from the growing scene of Toronto, Ontario, Soundman naturally lists Drake as one of his influences, but his more audible influence is Kendrick Lamar, specifically in the way he manipulates his voice. Within the span of one song, he switches octaves, flows, and energies, showing a surprising control over his many styles, and never sounding like anyone other than himself. In the end, he manages to break the mold of the Toronto sound in an exciting new way.
