A new RF x Asics joint drops this month.
Ronnie Fieg has announced that his milestone 50th collab with Asics is in the works, 10 years after he first designed an Asics Gel Lyte III.
In three separate instagram posts the Kith owner showcased each of his previous 49 Asics sneakers and praised the man who inspired him along the way, Nigo from BAPE. This month, Fieg will be releasing his 50th Asics collab which will not only commemorate his 10 years working with the brand but also the 5-year anniversary of KITH.
The release details have yet to be announced but you can check out all 49 of his previous collabs, as well as Fieg's message, in the IG posts below.
(1/3) I’m a student of the game, and very early on in my career I would study legends that carved a lane in this industry. A major inspiration to me during this time was Nigo of A Bathing Ape. By watching him I learned that products were released with purpose, as each collection would be part of a story, a long story – a timeline.
(2/3) As I began working with Asics for the first time, my approach became creating product that was cohesive, yet showcased constant improvement and evolution. Over a year ago, I was digging through the archives of some of my old hard drives and stumbled across the very first Asics CAD I had ever worked on. It was dated November 2006. I was stunned, as I had no idea 10 years had gone by so fast. Knowing that 2016 would be Kith’s 5-year anniversary, and then knowing that it would also be my 10-year anniversary of working with Asics, I began putting together a collection of products that would combine the past, the present, and the future.
(3/3) This month I will release my 50th pair of Gels with Asics. I’m getting chills as I type this and look at this graphic of my timeline with Asics, because this is a decade worth of blood, sweat, and tears. This is a decade worth of daring to be different and trying to create something that is timeless. This is my legacy.
