Over the past few months, we've seen increased cross-pollination between US and UK hip hop, with guys like Skepta and Stormzy gaining traction across the pond in pretty unprecedented ways. At just 20 years old, North London's Little Simz is another MC who's really making a splash over here, showing up at a few SXSW shows (including a particularly dope one with Salva) to instantly win over crowds with her sharp-tongued lyricism. Today, she makes her HNHH debut with the video for new posse cut "Guess Who," which features Josh Arcé, Chuck20 and Tilla.
Admittedly, I was expecting a little bit of a drop-off in talent after Simz drops the mic, as she's one of the quickest and wittiest rappers I've heard in a minute, but that was decidedly not the case here. Picking a favorite verse on "Guess Who" is truly a struggle.
Simz is currently prepping her project Age 101: Drop 4 for release later this year. Stay tuned.
