When asked about his decision to drop new music on July 4th, Left Brain comes through with a genuinely inspirational response. "Because we got the freedom and independence to do whatever we want to do," he explains. "We doing this shit on our own. Put this shit together all ourselves, so we’re just putting it out there for the kids. If we could put some shit out, they can too." A mentality in keeping with his Odd Future come-up, whereupon a bunch of talented misfits banded together to leave their mark on the game.
Citing "Beatin Down The Block" as part of the Mind Gone series, Left Brain teases the second installment, which is set to feature appearances from Larry June, Smoke DZA, Jay Worthy, Dash, and of course, Hodgy. As for the song itself, Left Brain goes to work over a eerie, chime-laden instrumental, which features a decidedly film-noir-esque chord progression. It seems like Left Brain hasn't lost a step, and his latest single will no doubt please longtime fans and loyalists.
