Kendrick Lamar on Lil Wayne's impending retirement: "Fuck that, nigga!"
Lil Wayne's announcement that he had grown "defenseless and mentally defeated" and felt ready to retire made just about everyone sad and elicited supportive responses from dozens of rappers. Now, noted Weezy stan Kendrick Lamar has chimed in with a few thoughts of his own.
Kendrick recorded a video live from the studio in the middle of the night in which he rapped over numerous Lil Wayne tracks and delivered a PSA to Weezy. He was, by his own estimation, "off the juice." Here's what he had to say:
Public service announcement, nigga. We in the motherfuckin’ studio. 5:32 in the motherfuckin’ morning. Niggas talkin’ bout squad up, that’s cliche! We going all the way back, when he was motherfuckin’ 16, 15 years old on some Hot Boy shit. Day one… Nigga talking ’bout retiring and shit. Fuck that, nigga! Retire, quitting rap, whatever you wanna call it. Fuck that, nigga.
