As President Obama prepares to move out of the White House after eight years of service to the country, Jeezy sat down with Genius to break down the lyrics in his 2008 song "My President," which also featured Nas.
Jeezy spit his two verses, explaining his frame of mind. The single was recorded four months before the historic vote that sent the first Black man to the White House.
"There's this guy [..] who could possibly be our President and he's Black like us," said Jeezy. "Not to say that it's the reason we voting for him but [...] he made it this far. We got to celebrate this."
He also talked about what he was feeling at the time, his private life and the situation in the country back then.
