"Live for Real" comes about a month after Makonnen dropped his second official EP, ILoveMakonnen 2, which included the Souf-produced standout "Flippin All Night." The new track features Makonnen's strange but triumphant brand of singing and yelling, and his energy is through the roof.
It's clear Makonnen is on an inspired tear right now, and we hope he keeps going. "I can sleep when I'm dead, ain't that shit true," he bellows on the chorus.
As you can see from the artwork, "Live for Real" happens to be dedicated to Makonnen's late canine, Daisy. You might wonder why he chose to offer such a turnt-up tribute to his recently departed pooch, but the song is intended to bring the energy that all dogs display throughout their lives. If only humans could say the same.
