"Ratchet Happy Birthday" from the Venus side of "Scorpion."

Drake's “Ratchet Happy Birthday” is the song for the muted celebration that occurs when you're missing that someone special in your extremities. Appearing on the B side which doesn't seem to effect tough guys, as far as they'd be willing to admit. If you're tough, I reckon you'd be mud up in your feelings building more fire and more armour, but that's simply not the case anymore.

"Ratchet Happy Birthday” tells the story of a woman led through the motions while anesthesia comes into effect. The song is co-written by PARTYNEXTDOOR with the participation of all OVO backstage engineers. I guess sharing conundrums with your production staff can only lead to a group therapy session. I'd imagine everybody on the team played both sides of the flip: caped crusader & distant lover in a vague romantic encounter. Feelings aside, Drake tries to work out the kinks of a drifting relationship on "Ratchet Happy Birthday." Sometimes distance can be so unyielding, you need to make up for it with tremendous gift baskets. Don't wait for anniversaries to get your feelings across.

Maybe the shtick has grown old to you, but "Ratchet Happy Birthday" will inevitably speak to someone in a moment of need. Drake did a great job of canvasing all the angles on Scorpion, maybe less dramatically than we'd planned for.

Enjoy.

Quotable Lyrics

It's your birthday, baby, it's your birthday, yeah
Who's gonna love you on your worst day?
You talk so tough, I know you're soft like buttercups
Reese's, Reese's, don't be ridiculous
Just say your piece and peace up like Ibiza
Cool your headtop, you hotter than Anitta
Bakin', baby, tell me where I need to–
