Curren$y has been keeping up with his one-project-a-month 2016 on a very tight schedule. Following up the 9/30 and 10/30 mixtapes (dropped on the respective dates of their titles), Spitta dropped 11/30 to close off November, making it his 11th project this year. This time around, he's working with producers like Cool and Dre, Cash Fargo, and Purps of 808 Mafia, as well as Don Cannon and Metro Boomin, who join forces for the "Fed Ex" beat.
Do What I Want
Lil Uzi Vert
Lil Uzi Vert continues to ride his wave, giving fans his third mixtape since October of last year (the first being Luv Is Rage, the mixtape that started it all, at least from a wave-riding standpoint) with The Perfect Luv Tape. After teasing the tape the other week, the rapper surprised us with the drop over the weekend; a weekend that also included a trio of festivals from Osheaga to OVO to Lollapalooza.
Lil Uzi Vert Feat. Future
On his 22nd birthday, Lil Uzi Vert surprised fans with the release of The Perfect Luv Tape, the follow-up to April's highly acclaimed Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World. It had been a while since a mixtape of this caliber had impacted the summer. In fact, the last tape with this much hype was probably DJ Esco's Project E.T. Just like that one, The Perfect Luv Tape includes a collaboration between Uzi and Future. "Seven Million" is the tape's final track. It's a special one.
Joey Bada$$ & Jim Jones
2016 is the year of corporations dropping fire rap songs. On April 1, the Hamburger Helper mascot Lefty blessed the streets with Watch the Stove, one of the hottest mixtapes of all time. Now, MAGNUM™ Large Sized Condoms is getting in on the action with its Compound Gold Project.
Smokin What I'm Smokin On
Mod Sun Feat. D.R.A.M. & Rich The Kid
Well, this is quite the varied affair, but it works well. We have Don Cannon on the beat, rock-influenced-artist Mod Sun, trap enthusiast and generally-turnt-rapper Rich The Kid, as well as chilled out singer/rapper D.R.A.M. all together on one song. It's a weed anthem for a trio of kush advocates from different walks of life. Smokers come in every shape and form.
Money Longer (CDQ)
Lil Uzi Vert
At the beginning of the month, Lil Uzi Vert dropped off a radio rip of his latest single, "Money Longer," produced by Don Cannon and Maaly Raw. The radio quality notwithstanding, it was immediately clear this was the biggest record of young Uzi's career, and the high-fashion Philly trapper has now given fans the CDQ, which comes with some fantastic new single artwork.
Lil Uzi Vert
Lil Uzi Vert, whose name is really buzzing now, has come through with something new. It's likely that "Money Longer" will be Uzi's new single, and it's sounding massive. The track was played on Shade 45 last night by Don Cannon, and Uzi got a (quality) rip of the radio stream and posted it to his soundcloud. It turns out the record is produced by Cannon, too, along with Maaly Raw.
Lil Uzi Vert Feat. Playboi Carti
Lil Uzi Vert is back with another one. The rapper has been knocking out show after show lately, and while he continues to promote the iTunes version of Luv Is Rage, he somehow still finds the time to release new records. We last heard from him over the absolute banger from DP Beatz, "He Did It," and today he teams up with Playboi Carti for "Left, Right."
Big Money (C4 Remix)
Don Cannon Feat. Rich Homie Quan, Lil Uzi Vert & Skeme
We first heard Don Cannon's "Big Money" back in 2014, but today the anthemic street single has been given the crew track remix treatment, as Skeme and Lil Uzi Vert join the ranks. Rich Homie Quan's gigantic hook is thankfully kept intact, though ASAP Ferg's contribution has all but vanished, but the new verses more than make up for it.
Akee Fontane Feat. Young Dro & Runway Richy
Making his long overdue debut on HNHH tonight is Akee Fontane out of Wilmington, DE. He's got an immediately commanding flow and his new mixtape, Can't Be Young Forever, hosted by Don Cannon, is full of jump-around trap bangers brimming with hustler's ambition. The only features on the 11-track project are two Georgia trappers, Young Dro and Runway Richy, who both show up on "So."
The 2nd Coming (Freestyle)
It looks like Diggy Simmons fans’ finally have something to look forward to. Tonight, Diggy revealed that he’s going to be releasing a new freestyle for us every week moving forward, and for this week’s release he drops off the “The 2nd Coming” with the God, Raekwon.
Stay Down Till You Come Up
Metro Boomin, Childish Major, Don Cannon, Lyle Leduff & Cardo
Don Cannon just sent us a new instrumental for all you rising artists on the site fiending beats. The DJ and producer teamed up with few of the hottest producers right now, namely, Childish Major, Metro Boomin, Cardo and Lyle Leduff for "Stay Down Till You Come Up." It's a super-collaboration "just because we can," according to Don. No artists are featured on the over-six-minutes-long instrumental, but whom might you imagine hopping on this spacey, cloud-rap beat? Or are you feeling it so much you don't think it needs a feature? Let us know what you think.
Yesterday, Odd Future's Hodgy Beats surprised us by dropping off the sequel to 2009's Dena Tape. Hosted by Don Cannon, the tape features twelve dope tracks, a highlight of which is surely "Cudda Been." Check out the chill, boom-bap style track below. Speaking his mind over a warm, summery beat, Hodgy lets his thoughts wander everywhere from social commentary to his childhood. Quotable Lyrics
It's been quite some time since we've heard from Hodgy Beats, but it's probably cause the rapper has been prepping his follow up to Untitled 2, Dena Tape 2. The mixtape was announced back in November with a release date of February 2nd.
Don Cannon Feat. Rich Homie Quan & A$AP Ferg
Anyone who follows southern hip-hop knows that, when it comes to laying down some solid production, few are as consistent as Don Cannon. Remember Jeezy's "Circulate"? Or Luda's "Undisputed"? You can thank Cannon for those two. (He also co-produced with 88-Keys & Kanye West for Pusha T's "Numbers On The Boards".)
Vinny Chase Feat. Yo Gotti
Vinny Chase's odds keep getting better with each new leak, and Nothin Changed (Prod. By Don Cannon) will undoubtedly improve his chances of winning. It's a worthy addition to a respectable catalogue that has seen a lot of growth since Vinny Chase debuted in this game. We're looking forward to the follow-up.
Check out Nasty (Prod. by Don Cannon), the latest track from Logic, which dropped on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013. Logic's movement grows stronger with each new release, and Nasty (Prod. by Don Cannon) has further strengthened that fact. It's a solid addition to the commendable body of work Logic has been creating since stepping foot in the rap game, and we're definitely looking forward to what Logic has on deck.
Numbers On The Boards
Stream Numbers On The Boards (Prod.By Don Cannon & Kanye West), the newest drop from Pusha T. The cut was released on Thursday, April 11th, 2013. It's strengthens Pusha T's already impressive body of work, which has seen positive change over the years. We're most definitely anticipating Pusha T's next offering.
Big Sean Feat. Royce Da 5'9" & Kendrick Lamar
Quotable Lyrics"Couple niggas on the hitlist and bitches on a different type Same shit different nights, till I live a different life Sean you looking tired, damn homie that's all I've been stressin' so hard I'm surprised I ain't going bald Haters praying I fall, move back in with my moms Take online classes and turn back into ya'll, hatin' I guess they want your lights out when you the plug Niggas wanna catch you slippin like they pulled the rug"
