Shortly after unveiling their monthly report of gold and platinum certifications, the RIAA has confirmed that Beyonce's 6th studio album has achieved platinum status. The tweet announcing the news also pointed out that all 6 of Bey's studio albums are no platinum-selling, or multi-platinum-selling, certainly an honor not many artists have achieved.
The album sold 653,000 equivalent album units in its first week, 485,000 of which came through in pure album sales, so it comes as no surprise to hear that the project has been certified with 1 million units sold less than two months following its release.
No word on why the LP was not listed in the report released earlier today, which included Future's DS2, the first platinum solo album for the Atlanta rapper.
