For his new single "Reaganomics," Boston producer B Leafs has lined up a roster that's sure to please underground hip-hop loyalists. Elzhi, Ras Kass, M-Dot, and Large Professor have united to wax political over soulful, sample-based production evocative of the golden era. Over a flip on Nas' iconic "it was written but was never told" line, DJ Slipwax keeps the cuts relentless, taking listeners back to an era in which the art form was respected, even revered.

Lyrically, the single is packed with heavy hitters. Elzhi sets it off with a dexterous contribution, while Ras Kass proves he's been the West Coast's secret weapon. Turns from M-Dot and Large Professor keep the movement alive, as the quartet sets their sights on today's current political sphere. Naturally, we've long come to accept protest music in hip-hop, and while it can be preachy at times, the lyrical prestige with which these artists approach the topic adds a welcome dose of credibility. Check out the single now, and sound off below.

Quotable Lyrics

It all stemmed from Reaganomics
That's breaking eggs to break some regular omelets
Reporting overdoses from rich kids that beg for comics
While they parents marvel at the DC propaganda
With Nancy Reagan LA's top commander
