Starting in June of this year, the news of an Aaliyah biopic caused an uproar from the late singer's family and fans -- due to everything from casting drama to copyright issues. Today, we finally have a trailer for the Lifetime biopic, entitled "Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B."
It's pretty obvious from the get-go that the creators weren't able to obtain rights to Aaliyah's music, as Iggy Azalea's "Goddess" soundtracks the trailer. Former Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp plays Aaliyah, nabbing the role from the previous choice, Zendaya.
