10 celebrities (and athletes) who've heard rappers shout them out and responded in one way or another.

Rappers name-drop celebrities all the time. Whether making comparisons about their own skills, referencing films, weaving together careful similes, or just being thirsty, MCs have been shouting out other pop culture entities for as long as we can remember. What's much more uncommon is the celebrities in question hearing the shout outs, and then responding.

These reactions vary from person to person, ranging from grateful to disgusted, and don't often come from the celebs you'd expect. Today, we've picked ten of the best celebrity responses to name-drops in rap songs for you. There's only two criteria: none of these people are rappers themselves (athletes and singers are fair game though), and they're responding to song lyrics, not separate shout-outs.

Let us know if we missed any of your favorites.

Susan Sarandon

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyric:

“You see us scramblin’, sellin’ Susan Sarandon/ the cloud of smoke like the Phantom" - Action Bronson on A$AP Rocky's "1 Train"

Response:

Very cool. The 68-year-old actress surprised everyone for a number of reasons: she actually listened to "1 Train," she was chill as fuck about it, and she invited Rocky and Bronson to smoke with her.

Hey @asvpxrocky & @ActionBronson thx for the shout out on “1Train." Not sure what it means, but let’s blaze one & talk about it some time.

Kim Kardashian

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"Last night was a blast, I can't quite remember when I had that much fun off a half pint of the Jack /
My last Vic and a half, a fleshlight of Kim Kardashian's ass" - Eminem on "3 AM"

Response:

Surprisingly cool, although she thought he was talking about a flashlight, not a fleshlight:

"I just heard the song," Kim said to Life & Style. "He raps about a flashlight in my ass. I'm a huge fan. [At first] I was like, 'Oh no!' But it's funny, so who cares?"

Stephon Marbury

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"Don't confuse me with Marbury out this bitch / Run up on me at the light, you could lose your life" - Jay Z on "La La La"

Response:

Pretty pissed. After hearing this reference to his chain-snatching incident, Starbury called Jay Z a "camel" and questioned whether he'd actually kill anyone. Watch that response below.

Monica Lewinsky

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"He popped all my buttons and he ripped my blouse / He Monica Lewinsky'd all on my gown" - Beyoncé on "Partition"

Response:

Hilarious. You may expect that Ms. Lewisky wasn't too pleased about being used as a punchline, but really, she was only concerned with accuracy. She told Vanity Fair: “Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.’”

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"You could be big as Madonna" - Drake on "Madonna"

Response:

It was a two-parter. First, the pop queen said she "loved" the song, then she appeared onstage during Drizzy's Coachella set to make out with him. Win?

Ronda Rousey

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"If Ronda Rousey was on the couch with the condoms out, holding a thousand Magnums at once to pounce me / I laugh in response to how she dances and flaunts it around me, her flat little badonkadonk is bouncing around / And all I see is Paulie Malignaggi, Slaughterhouse in a blouse" - Eminem on "Shady XV"

Response:

The UFC star seemed pretty flattered, telling Jimmy Kimmel:

“He’s an artist and art isn’t meant to be nice. It’s meant to make you feel something. I like being called a ‘slaughterhouse in a blouse.’ I think that’s cool. I’m not perfect, but parts of me are pretty awesome and I think if Eminem took the ass Pepsi Challenge, he would totally pick me as his favourite.”

John Starks

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"The shit she kicked, all the shit's legit / She get dick from a player off the New York Knicks" - Notorious B.I.G. on "I Got A Story To Tell"

Response:

This one's a little different, because while fromer New York Knick Starks said he wasn't the one referenced on the track, he also claimed that Biggie wasn't lying. He told ESPN, “I know who it was about, but I’m not gonna say. I can’t tell you. But I just want to get it clear that it wasn’t about me.”

Guy Fieri

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"Fieri, I'm in the kitchen, I'm a magician" - Drake on "6 Man"

Response:

Amazing. “It was a total surprise," the chef said. “I’m still getting a big grin out of that one. Drake’s an awesome guy. I love his music and energy.”

Kris Humphries

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"And I'll admit, I had fell in love with Kim around the same time she had fell in love with him / Well that's cool, baby girl, do ya thang, lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team" - Kanye West on "Cold"

Response:

Equally as bold. Humphries was married to Kim Kardashian for all of 72 days, and Kanye couldn't resist reminding him that his big brother Jay owned part of the team he played for at the time. Humphries wasn't sweating it though.

I'm up at Brooklyn! @S_C_ "lucky I didn't have Jay drop me from the team" lol!

Christina Aguilera

10 Celebrities Who Have Responded To Rappers' Shout-Outs

Lyrics:

"Shit, Christina Aguilera better switch me chairs so I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst / And hear 'em argue over who she gave head to first." - Eminem on "The Real Slim Shady"

Response:

Livid. Eminem's third appearance on this list isn't surprising, as he's partially responsible for making these celebrity name-drops en vogue, but Aguilera wasn't having it. She told the UK's Company Magazine:

“That was disgusting, offensive, and, above all, not true. If he’s going to be immature, that’s his thing. I’m not going to feed into it. Whatever. Maybe he did it to make sure he had a hit, even at the expense of using other people’s names or dissing them. If that’s what you have to do to make a hit record, that’s pretty sad. It’s pointless to say anything more about a guy who’s basically retarded, for lack of a better word. When the Eminem controversy erupted, my stepfather was furious – he was ready to get on a plane and kick Eminem’s ass. It’s good to have that support.”
