Black Eyed Peas may have taken a slight detour into mid-millennium pop fare, largely encapsulated by "My Hump," "Let's Get Retarded" and various songs of that nature. Yet the core principles of the crew derive from, at the very least, four out of five elements; few can dispute will i. am's place in the game, having laid down countless hits, as well as bangers for The Game & Nasir Jones. Now, the latter has come through to return the favor, inadvertently (or perhaps not) reopening a narrative he once raised back in 06': hip-hop is dead.

If will & Nas' aforementioned collab was the death knell, "BACK2HIPHOP" is somewhat of a resuscitation spell. Appropriately enough, the opening track samples the iconic Soul II Soul track "Back to Life," featuring verses from will i. am, Nas, and apl.de.ap. Check it out now.

Quotable Lyrics

That's the muthafuckin procedure
I'm cold with the flow I will freeze ya
I'm the emperor, I'm Caesar
Can somebody tell me where the emcees are?
