Why Bilal isn't everyone's favorite R&B artist by this point will forever be a mystery to me. Since the mid-90s, he's literally put out nothing but excellent music. Last year's A Love Surreal was certainly no exception to this rule, earning accolades for the singer's smooth vocal work and deeply empathetic lyricism. The album is everything neo-soul enthusiasts have been missing since the genre faded into obscurity.
"Slipping Away," the latest single from the aforementioned release, gets the professional video treatment here. Using the age-old concept of a man pursuing a woman who caught his eye, this one separates itself from videos of a similar nature by capture a sincere, romantic tone rather than a strictly sexual one as expected by R&B artists nowadays.
