What is an embargo to a man named Jeffery? Despite making a solemn vow to abstain from music in 2018, Young Thug has been dropping tracks with more frequency than ever. Today marks another such occasion, as Thug has contributed a banger to Cash Money's documentary soundtrack Before Anythang.

It's no surprise he came through for Baby's brain child; Thugger and Birdman have developed a close relationship, with Thugger recently pledging his loyalty to the notorious mogul. Given the early-game similarities between Thug and Weezy, one wonders if Birdman was actively looking to replace his estranged son. Purely speculation, but interesting nevertheless.

Digressions aside, Young Thug's contribution to the soundtrack is a strong one, with an instrumental evocative of vintage Mannie Fresh. Thug takes to the bounce with ease, flexing a melodic prowess most rappers could only wish for. Even at his most effortless, Thugger continuously finds new ways to ride a beat. Lyrically, he's been admittedly deeper on previous drops; throughout "Back Bone," Thug generally channels his alter ego "Sex," coming through with lewd, pornographic imagery. It's entertaining, but far from his most nuanced writing.

Still, new Young Thug is always appreciated. There's something undeniably exciting about the pairing of Young Thug and Cash Money; it really gets the nostalgia going. Check out the track now, and sound off below.

Quotable Lyrics

Cat carpet red, and it's about to kick your feet up
Put Michael Jackson in my crew, we can be the Beatles
My wrist is water, my ears is water
I'll fuck your daughter, she just wanna be a starter
And I done charged up, now she tryna play harder
