Pound Cake

Listen to Shawty Lo and Rocko's Zaytoven-produced "Pound Cake."

Though Zaytoven has been knee-deep in Atlanta's trap scene for years at this point, he's always seemed to run against the grain of his peers, dropping zany, technicolor tracks that make his competitors' compositions seem stoic in comparison. "Pound Cake," a new joint he gifted to Shawty Lo and Rocko, is just another notch in the belt, marrying violins and UFO synths to great effect.

Shawty Lo greets this weirdness by adopting a Gucci Mane-esque delivery, and rapping almost strictly about drugs. After his leadoff verse and a pair of choruses, Rocko brings us slightly back down to Earth, but never clashes with Zay's loopy sounds.

Quotable Lyrics:

Grew up gritty, yeah I'm with that grit
Break that down, remix that shit
Make that play, nigga time ain't free
Never clock out, go get that pape

- Rocko
