Robert Glasper is one of the most important artists bridging the gap between hip hop and jazz, along with the likes of Flying Lotus and Thundercat, though he is more closely affiliated with the Soulquarian collective than Brainfeeder.
On May 27, Glasper will release Everything's Beautiful, an album constructed entirely around Miles Davis samples. We've already heard the sultry "Violets" feat. Phonte. This morning, Glasper joins forces with Erykah Badu for a gorgeous cover of came through with a cover of Miles' "Maiysha." Sounds like a straight-up classic Earth Wind and Fire jam... Glasper delivers a nifty synth solo over a 2-chord bossa nova vamp midway through.
