On the outfit & religious figure she was accompanied with Nicki says, "He [Roman] is a major part of the story and the movie that I'm writing about one of my alter egos, his name is Roman, and basically the relgious figure is there because he is called on by Roman's mom to rehabilitate him..that's pretty much it."

She says that her performance "was the most comfortable I've been on stage my entire life," and it was not because she was barefoot. As well, she reveals that the Grammy's chose "Roman Holiday," and she could have chose to sing a "no-brainer, pop song." She also says Roman is just one facet of her brand, and not all performances will continue along that vein. On Madonna, Nicki says that meeting Madonna and performing with her changed her life.
