This afternoon, we premiered a new mixtape from two artists that are currently locked up. They haven't let that stop their grind, evidently, as they've somehow recorded an 18-track project (features and all) from prison. I'm referring to Big TC and D. Loc, both of whom received minor fame thanks to TC's younger brother Ty Dolla $ign. Ty Dolla notably named his debut album Free TC, and has been outspoken about his brother's wrongful murder conviction.
Most of us were thoroughly impressed after hearing TC and D. Loc on Ty's album cut "Miracle/Whenever." Their mixtape offers a closer look at their talents, although they do have some choice features from West Coast natives like TeeCee 4800 and Reem Riches. "Family" is a heartfelt cut that literally features all of Ty's family-- his sister AngelGold and their Pops. It's backed by a simple piano melody and a few horns, with TC laying down an emotional hook.
