As one of the most recognizeable women in America, and one half of hip hop’s true “power couple”, Beyonce is always in the spotlight, yet she remains protective about what she reveals to fans, especially in regards to her personal life.  Now the R&B icon is going to be opening up and offering a never before seen look into her life when she releases a documentary on HBO this winter.

The documentary is set to premier on HBO on February 16th, 2013, and the movie detailing her life and views will actually be directed by Bey herself.  In a statement released on her facebook page, the documentary is described as a “fusion of video that provides raw, unprecedented access to the private entertainment icon and high-voltage performances."   The project will also document not only her career, but her life as a mother,  "[the film] reflects on the realities of celebrity, the refuge she finds onstage and the transcendent joy of becoming a mother last year."

In a statement from HBO’s President of Programming, Michael Lombardo (via HHDX), he said this will be a “raw” look at Beyonce’s life, “Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person...Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”
