Review: Rockie Fresh's "The Night I Went To..."
Wale is most commonly thought of as The Untouchable Maybach Empire's black sheep-- the "Seinfeld"-loving, backpack blog rapper whose position among the rest of his hard-headed labelmates is perhaps best illustrated by the contrast between him and the squad's other DMV representative, Fat Trel. But Mr. Folarin's walked the MMG walk from time to time, notching verses on trap anthems like "Fuck Em," "Pandemonium," "Loyalty" and "No Hands" in his belt, showing that he's more than willing to pay homage at the temple of Rozay.
Staff Picks Playlist (January 22)
Some cool shit happened this past week. That Kanye West "Black Skinhead" remix with Miley Cyrus and Travis Scott finally surfaced. Meek Mill and 50 Cent got deep into it, so deep, that Meek accepted defeat at Fif's continuous-meme-creating-hands. There was yet another new mixtape from rap MVP Future.
A Conversation With Rockie Fresh, MMG’s Humble Rising Star
Rick Ross, founder of Maybach Music Group, has carefully crafted in image of himself as a man swaddled in gold chains and flanked by a harem of strippers who dines on a strict diet of caviar and Ace of Spades. Indeed, his ample belly seems to exist to prove that he is eating well.

Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco & More Mourn The Death Of DJ Timbuck2
The city of Chicago is mourning the death of DJ Timbuck2, real name Tim Jones, who died of cancer-related causes yesterday (Dec. 20). He was 34 years old. At that young age, Timbuck2 was already one of Chicago's most established DJs. He was the host of Go iLL radio on 107.5 WCGI, which aired every Saturday night, and he was responsible for showcasing local artists and helping them break into the mainstream. "He was an innovator and pound for pound (arguably) the best DJ in the city," wrote prominent Chi-Town hip-hop blog FakeShoreDrive.

Rockie Fresh Announces New Project "The Night I Went To…"
It's been awhile since we've heard from MMG-signed Chicago native Rockie Fresh, leaving us to wonder if Ricky Rozay isn't doing him right when it comes to label services. Wonder no more, as Rockie has just announced a new project. Apparently the reason we haven't heard a peep out of Rockie Fresh is because he's been holed up in the studio for two years, crafting The Night I Went To... For the project announcement, Rockie dropped off a trailer with a mix of found footage and studio clips, narrated by the countdown of a spaceship lift-off.

Who Had The Better Verse: J. Cole Vs. Wale
Rap is the most competitive genre in music. For decades, artists reveled in competition because they wanted to prove that they were elite. Whenever a rapper elected to feature his or her peer on a track, both sides were trying to out-duel the other, simply for competitive reasons. Artists knew that for years to come, fans would debate about who outperformed who. That’s why when Kendrick Lamar delivered his “Control” verse, fans applauded his voracious stab at the industry. That’s why we love rap.
Samples Of The Week: November 6
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey". This week, see who Nas, Wu-Tang Clan and Rockie Fresh sampled on their recent tracks, all of which can be found on HNHH.
10 Essential Vic Mensa Tracks
Vic Mensa is barely old enough to drink, but that hasn't stopped this 21-year-old MC from livin' the life. After touring with Disclosure earlier this year, Mensa's popularity has been on the steady rise. The Chicago-bred MC has a friendship with Chance The Rapper, and the two frequently collaborate on stage and on tracks. Jams like "Suitcase" and "Tweakin'" have seen the two spit back and forth over some impressive beats.
Rockie Fresh Names His Top Five Places To Visit In Chicago
There's no denying that since Rockie Fresh connected with MMG, his stock has soared and it's given him the boost he needed to reach a much wider fan base, outside of the Chicago area. Now, we presume that the rapper doesn't get to spend nearly as much time in his home town as he did, he's often out in Los Angeles, plus lately he's been busy touring with G-Eazy and Tory Lanez for the "These Things Happen" tour. We caught up with Rockie during some rare free time out in L.A. and spoke to the rapper about his Chicago roots, and he named his five favorite spots in Chi-town.
G-Eazy Announces "These Things Happen" Tour With Rockie Fresh
Oakland, California native G-Eazy dropped off a new remix today, which features his newly-announced touring partners Rockie Fresh and Tory Lanez. Underrated Audio: October 26- November 1

Among the ton of mixtapes and singles we received, we've picked out four in particular that deserve a second look in this week's Underrated Audio.

Tickets for the tour go on sale tomorrow here.
Fight Breaks Out At Rick Ross & MMG Show In New York

Lyrics Of The Week: June 7-13
There's quite a bit of repetition in the game these days, and specific lyrics tend to get overlooked. This is an opportunity to take a closer listen and really consider what these artists have to say. We encourage your opinions. Keep in mind, these are the most noteworthy lyrics of the week, not necessarily the best. Also, it's hard to get everything right - if you notice any errors, don't hesitate to let us know in the comments section. Lines we're not quite sure about will be bolded.
