10 Rappers' Myspace Pages Before The Fame
If you were in your teens between the years 2003 and 2009, having a Myspace was a must. The predecessor to Facebook was a major step up from instant messaging platforms like AIM, the only form of social network any of us really had until the mid-2000s, and it also had a big impact on the music industry. For the first time, undiscovered artists had a means of sharing their music with millions of people across the globe (YouTube would come into the picture two years later), and the personal touch of a Myspace page gave eventual fans something more to latch onto.

The Best Hip Hop Songs (On Spotify) Of July 2016
HNHH recently launched a Spotify playlist called FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now. The playlist is updated on a daily basis. It lives on Spotify and thus is inherently imperfect, because not all super-hot hip hop songs have been added to Spotify. Still, the playlist is generally representative of the best new releases in hip hop.

Whether or not Pokemon Go is a fad or a permanent institution, it has captured the hearts and minds of people around the globe. Charlamagne tha God recently anointed Pokemon Go players his “Donkey of the Day” and many rappers share his sentiment that the game can be dangerous and is a distraction from larger issues at hand.
The Best Hip Hop Songs (On Spotify) Of June 2016
ICYMI: HNHH recently launched a Spotify playlist called FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now. The 40-track playlist is updated on a daily basis. It lives on Spotify and thus is inherently imperfect, because not all supa-hot hip hop songs have been added to Spotify (e.g. those recent ScHoolboy Q releases). Still, the playlist is generally representative of the best new releases in hip hop.
Staff Picks Playlist (June 10)
It's that time of the week. The past seven days have been pretty eventful-- the momentum all started on last weekend, when a new episode of OVO Sound Radio dropped as many gems as one could hope for in the span of seven days-- except they did it all within the span of their two-hour segment. It's safe to say, the bar was set pretty high for the weekdays that followed. Even so, we managed to get some dope material in the days that followed.

During this past summer. Twista rattled off an improbable streak of 15-ish consecutive days in which he dropped a freestyle. He's cooled off some since then.

The rising Chicago star's debut album FC3: The Epilogue drops on December 18th, and it is now available for pre-order on iTunes. Unlike Free Crack 3, FC3: The Epilogue is not free.

A few days ago (Nov. 3), Spike Lee shared the trailer to "Chi-Raq," his upcoming film starring Samuel J. Jackson, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson, Wesley Snipes, Nick Cannon, and more. The preview suggested that the plot would focus on the efforts of women in inner-city Chicago to unite and convince their male significant others to lay down their weapons.
Rhymefest, Lil Durk, Lil Reese, & Lil Bibby Blast Spike Lee's "Chi-Raq"
The trailer for Spike Lee's new film "Chi-Raq" debuted on Tuesday to much intrigue and mixed feelings. The consensus from Chicago rappers seems to be that the trailer is at best a joke, at worst a travesty. The most outspoken opponent of the film has been veteran Chicago rapper Rhymefest.

Review: Lil Herb's "Ballin Like I'm Kobe"
Is there anything more startling than hearing a 19 year old kid saying that he doesn't fear death because he's "happy for all the years [he] got to see"? Lil Herb's still around 57 years shy of the average male life expectancy in the U.S., but you don't need to be a super-sleuth to figure out why optimism isn't his strong suit. Hell, you barely even have to listen to his music.
Staff Picks Playlist (October 2)
It's everyone's favorite day of the week. Friday. While we stare at the clock for the next two or three hours and count down every single second until the work day (/school day) finishes, we've rounded up our favorite Soundcloud releases from the past week for the weekly Staff Picks playlist. Last week we got pretty indie on you guys, but this week we have more of a balance between underground/rising artists and established dudes. You'll also see how the playlist gets increasingly ratchet as it wears on. Give it play tonight or during your weekend activities.
Top 5 Lil Herb & Lil Bibby Collabs
Lil Herb's long-awaited mixtape, Ballin' Like I'm Kobe, arrives today. From what we've heard, it aims to match the incredible artistry we heard on Welcome to Fazoland and Pistol P Project. Last night, to properly anticipate the release, Herb shared a new track, "Gang In This Bitch," with his closest collaborator, Lil Bibby.
Lil Bibby Defends Slim Jesus Against Haters
Slim Jesus is the latest viral rap sensation, and it's easy to see why -- for one, he's named Slim Jesus. It's also not every day you see a white teenager from Ohio making drill music. Though Slim is apparently 18, he looks about 13, and seeing him and his similarly young looking crew toting heavy artillery in the "Drill Time" music video is pretty shocking. As you might expect, the viral video has caused some controversy.
Lil Bibby Teases Possible "Free Crack 3" Cover Art
Lil Bibby teased fans regarding the long-awaited trilogy finale Free Crack 3 by posting the mixtape cover art to Instagram. "Ready???" he asked. Bibby has periodically posted Free Crack 3 covers to his Instagram over the course of the past couple months, but today he the changed both his IG and Twitter avatars to the new cover, which lends credence to the notion that this actually the one. And given that he recently said the tape would drop in July, and it is no longer July, it can't be too far off.
