Massachusetts rapper Joyner Lucas followed up his biggest album to date in ADHD with a sequel in July 2025. The 18-song project, similar to its predecessor, brought about a big cast of side acts. Big Sean, Ava Max, blackbear, T-Pain, and Ty Dolla $ign are a few names present. However, Joyner is taking ADHD 2 to different places, expanding it with a RELOADED edition later this year. Per his social media, it’s going to tack on eight more songs and this weekend, we have the first of the bunch in “Monsters.” It’s explosive and emotional as it stays on the album’s themes of recovering mentally and battling his inner demons. When Future dropped the mixtape Purple Reign back in 2016, it felt as though Future was at the peak of his powers. The album was filled with melancholic ballads and some absolute bangers. One of those bangers was “Wicked.” There were lots of criticisms of this song when it first came out. After all, the hook is extremely repetitive, and there are times when you can’t even understand what Future is saying. However, that does not take away from the joy you feel while hearing this. The song makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. There isn’t a single song where Future sounds cooler than this. He is one of hip-hop’s best hitmakers, and “Wicked” is an example of how sometimes, less is more.

This song did not win any awards, although it was always a long shot to be in those conversations. However, the commercial performance for the track was solid. It peaked at 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. Furthermore, the track eventually went platinum in the United States, cementing Future as one of our most prolific hitmakers.

Future has always been a consistent fan favorite on HotNewHipHop, so it should come as no surprise that our readers were huge fans of this song. “Future is one of the best of our generation. All he does is drop classics. This whole tape is FLAMES!” one reader wrote. “Future run the fuck out of trap. Between this and 4/4 I’m good on music til whatever Cole dropping in February,” said another.

However, it wasn’t all positivity in our comments section. There were some fans who felt like the song was simply too basic and mediocre to be taken seriously. One fan even said, “i like future but this song sucks.” Another was seething while listening to the song, saying, “swear you n****s hype anything up. this shit is so average. dude is just mumbling shit on a boring beat. metro and future can do better than this.”

The artist comes through with a solid as ever performance, that really captures everything he is feeling. The production here accentuates his voice, and it makes for a pleasant listening experience. If you’re a fan, this release is a nice surprise, and something you will want to keep coming back to.

“Robbery,” the 13th track on Don’t Be Dumb, is one of A$AP Rocky’s most unique songs, and by extension, there are going to be some strong opinions. Production-wise, this is a jazz track, through and through. Meanwhile, Doechii delivers a strong verse, albeit one that will certainly upset the internet. The internet hates on everything, and with Doechii refusing to compromise, we imagine there will be some detractors. What’s interesting about the song, however, is that it ends with a literal robbery. Rocky is directing people to get on the ground, and it makes for a cinematic finale.

After all, Rocky isn’t at his most energetic on this track. Not to mention, Westside Gunn and Damon Albarn aren’t always everyone’s cup of tea. This eventually settles down and becomes a subdued song, with Rocky drawing in to a whisper. Overall, it goes along with the sonic aesthetics of the project, which can only be described as “unique.” There is a lot going on here, but it oddly works. This is going to be a polarizing album, but it could very well go down as one of Rocky’s best.

A$AP Rocky’s new album, Don’t Be Dumb, comes complete with some interesting production. Having said that, no song borders on Yeezus territory more than “STFU.” You can even throw Death Grips’ “I Break Mirrors With My Face In The United States” into the mix. Regardless, it makes for an incredibly interesting listen. The artist is really taking some risks with this album, and we can’t blame him for wanting to go in a completely new direction. It’s a lot of fun. While some may not love the direction, you have to appreciate an artist willing to take a few risks.

The song “Fish N Steak (What It Is)” is technically a bonus track. However, we got Tyler anyway, which is enough in our book. Overall, it makes for a great collab, as these two have always had some exceptional chemistry. It’s always great to hear from Tyler. Meanwhile, Don’t Be Dumb has proven to be a fun first listen.
