Lexa Gates is gearing up for her next album I Am, and “Estranged” is the newest single previewing this upcoming era. It’s yet another fusion of hip-hop with soul and R&B with a solid beat from producer Black Noi$e, led by sharp melodic leads, a heavy but languid percussion pattern, and shimmering chords. As for Gates’ vocal performance, she floats over the track with ease with a firm demeanor that still melts into higher registers. Overall, it’s a very dreamy cut that points to even more atmospheric and enveloping sounds on I Am. Whether or not Lexa Gates follows through with that sound or something more hard-hitting, we’re excited for what’s next.

Niontay has had a killer year so far, and he has even more to share before his 2025 is over. Ahead of his new mixtape Soulja Hate Repellant due on December 16, he just dropped the new single “100days100nights.” This teaser is an unsurprisingly wavy and intoxicating cut thanks to rubbery synths, distant pads in the background, and a snare-heavy drum pattern. As is usual for the Florida native, his vocal delivery is quite malleable on here, sliding between indistinct mumbling and more punchy declarations with help from his smooth and patient flow. Just months after Fada<3of$, it’s amazing to hear Niontay’s foot stay on the gas with his unique and enthralling personality.

You can say what you want about Tory Lanez given his situation these days. But one thing that you can’t deny is ability to effortlessly switch from his hard-hitting rap pocket to his singing. Like with most of his “Lost Tapes,” he’s giving everyone two more gems of contrasting styles in “Shrug It Off” and “Variables.” The former is a steadier and slower cut about how all of his setbacks have made him incredibly strong and mentally solid. “Variables” is similar in tone but finds Tory lanez rapping h is a*s off for two-minutes straight. With these two additions to the “Free Tory Playlist,” Genius says the total is now at an astounding 109.

Bladee has the Swedish flag draped over his back this weekend. The multi-talented rapper and singer has just come through with two singles in his native language in “Ingen hör” and “Förstelnad.” The former translates to “No Whore” with the latter meaning “Stiffened” or “Paralyzed” in English. Both tracks are not strictly hip-hop by any means, which isn’t a surprise. Their a unique blend of alternative and dark wave and hear Bladee using some descriptive language in the process. Erick Sermon just dropped his new album Dynamic Duos, which unsurprisingly contains a lot of compelling collaborations. Leading the way is “God Mode” with assistance from Conway The Machine and The Game. This dusty and bass-heavy track rests on a slinky bassline, crisp drums, eerie pianos, and ghostly chorus vocals to create a hazy and intoxicating atmosphere. Conway and Jayceon Taylor go to great lengths to land impressive rhyme schemes and charismatic punchlines, flowing easily over the smooth-riding instrumental. As a legend in the game, Sermon never ceases to entertain and captivate. Hopefully there’s more where this came from, as it’s always nice to see veterans keep contributing to the game.
