In the time following Lil Peep's tragic overdose, the hip-hop community has yet to truly overcome their grief from his passing. How unfortunate then, that CHXPO and Yung Bans would drop their Lil Peep dedication track, "Sad Boy Soulja," right in the midst of another period of mourning; this time for another young super star, XXXTentacion.
The track is spacey and melodic, allowing Bans to give the chorus as much room to breathe as it needs. The hook is a simple proclamation of mourning for Peep, but the subtle addition of interview audio from Lil Peep fills out the sound and adds a layer of sadness to the track.
Hopefully we'll be able to stop having our heroes ripped away from us, so artists won't have to make any more songs like this.
