The Slumerican family has begun the fall season in full swing. Yelawolf just dropped his first project of the year, a surprise EP called Hotel, and a few days before that, Bubba Sparxxx released The Bubba Mathis EP, his first project in over two years, via Yela's imprint. Yela guested on two Bubba Mathis tracks, and Bubba has now returned the favor on Hotel, appearing on the penultimate song, "Be Yourself."

Earlier this year, pictures of Sparxxx resurfaced after a lengthy period of obscurity, and the Internet was shocked to see him looking slimmed down and like he was dressed for the country club; not exactly a Slumerican. But those who still love songs like "Deliverance" need to listen to Bubba Mathis, as the Georgia rapper's music still succeeds in "balancing that southern hip hop and utter white trash redneck culture seamlessly," as Yela so eloquently put it.

Both Bubba and Yela both prefer to be on their front porches than in the rap game spotlight, though they're both purveyors of a endangered sound. It's up to the folks at Slumerican to keep it alive.

Quotable Lyrics

Take a walk with a wolf, girl
I can make it good girl a hood girl
We can get down and party, shaking the Chevy
But whatever happens in the truck, if you could, girl
Please just be yourself
