Despite resistance coming from the conservative thinkers within the Saudi Kingdom, the WWE will honor its ten-year agreement with the Royal Family by bringing its "Crown Jewel" PPV event to Riyadh, it has confirmed.
The WWE was facing resistance from the international community, based around the dubious murder of Jamal Khashoggi, in the country's Turkish consulate. An internal investigation wages on. The wrestling promotion seems willing to incur the derisive cost that comes with their decision. The WWE has operated in the Middle East for the past 20 years, they did not fail to mention that in their confirmation statement:
“WWE has operated in the Middle East for nearly 20 years and has developed a sizable and dedicated fan base. Considering the heinous crime committed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the Company faced a very difficult decision as it relates to its event scheduled for November 2 in Riyadh. Similar to other U.S.-based companies who plan to continue operations in Saudi Arabia, the Company has decided to uphold its contractual obligations to the General Sports Authority and stage the event."
The "Crown Jewel" PPV will air on November 2nd. Braun Stroman is expected to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship vacated by Roman Reigns.
