Angela Bonell, the woman accused of attacking Michael Jackson's niece in a racially motivated hate crime, has been arrested. According to the arrest report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Bonell stabbed Yasmine Jackson in the face seven times, telling her it was “because she was a n—-r.” Jackson was then taken to the University Medical Center with multiple cuts to her head and body, pictured below.

Yasmine, the granddaughter of Joe Jackson and daughter of Joh'Vonnie Jackson, the King-of-Pop’s half-sister, took to Instagram to share details about the incident. “I was stabbed 7 times right by my house because ‘I’m a n—-r,’" she wrote. “This woman chased me down and started stabbing me. She said it’s because I was a n—-r and that’s all I could hear while I was being stabbed.” The post went viral, catching the attention of well-known activist Shaun King, who commented on the post.

After Bonell was arrested, she was initially charged with felony battery with a deadly weapon. After the case received increased attention and police retrieved statements from several witnesses, the charge was trumped up to attempted murder with a deadly weapon with hate crime enhancement. Bonell is currently being held on $100,000 bail and is expected to appear in court today.
