Even with Tuesday's release of Cabin Fever 3, we no longer live in the era of "Mixtape Wiz." That would be the unprecedented combo of mixtapes Wiz rattled off between roughly 2009 and 2012 that included Burn After Rolling, Kush & OJ, Cabin Fever, & Taylor Allderdice.
In October 2010, at the height of the powers, Wiz released "Black and Yellow," one of his biggest hits to date. Produced by Stargate, "Black and Yellow" was the song that introduced tens of thousands to the stylings of Wiz Khalifa. It harkens back to simpler days, and it has aged well... this music video still goes hard in the paint.
The song would go on to appear on Rolling Papers. Depending on how you look at it, "Black and Yellow" was either the pinnacle of Mixtape Wiz or the moment when he realized the power of the mainstream.
I’m sippin' Clicquot and rocking yellow diamonds
So many rocks up in my watch I can’t tell what the time is
Got a pocket full of big faces
Throw it up cause every nigga that I’m with Taylored
