If you've ever had an advent calendar, you've likely been disappointed by the skimpy amount chocolate you get each day. You may have been disappointed that you were getting chocolate at all. For those who aren't excited to sit through weeks of uncomfortable social situations among friends and coworkers with chocolate as the only comfort, ALDI has a solution for you. They've announced a wine advent calendar, stocked with 24 bottles.
Unfortunately, the bottles are only 6.37 ounces each, which is about airplane size, and the whole box adds up to about six normal bottles. But still, a wine at least saves you a trip to the store in an emergency and there's no rule that says you can't save up days and then cash in (there is a rule of one calendar per person though). They also offer a bit of a tasting menu, with two bottles each of 12 different wines, although they're light on the particulars ("Italy"). Here's ALDI's list of what you'll get, which seems to kill the surprise:
- 2 x Prosecco Extra Dry, Italy
- 2 x Chardonnay, Australia
- 2 x Chenin Blanc, South Africa
- 2 x Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand
- 2 x White Zinfandel, U.S.A.
- 2 x Cabernet Sauvignon, Australia
- 2 x Pinot Grigio, Italy
- 2 x Malbec, Argentina
- 2 x Shiraz, Australia
- 2 x Red Blend, Italy
- 2 x Merlot, Chile
- 2 x Sauvignon Blanc, Chile
