Will got himself a pretty sweet gift.
Sneakerheads have varying opinions on the value of custom sneakers, but it's always interesting to see what people can do with their favorite sneaker silhouettes. Will Smith clearly doesn't mind, as he just posted an interesting pair of custom Fresh Prince-colored Nike Air More Uptempos on his Instagram page.
The shoes were a gift from Jimmy Butcher (@thebutcherbrand), a tattoo artist from Savannah, GA who wrote Will a lengthy letter to accompany the shoes. While most of the letter is cut off in the picture, Jimmy seems to be thanking Will and crediting him as a creative influence.
Will shouted out Jimmy for the shoes, saying "Just showed up to work and these were left for me! Shoutout to @thebutcherbrand for the Hot Art & Kind Words. #1of1."
The shoes themselves are covered in a technicolor melange that directly echos the colors of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air's logo. The "A I R" letters on the side are a green gradient and are surrounded with hot pink liner. The coloring of the toe box is especially cool, as it's filled with overlapping circles of translucent greens and purples.
The comments on Will's post seem to think the shoes are fire, so maybe we'll be seeing the Fresh Prince out sporting his new kicks. There's only one pair in the world, though, so he might want to keep them boxed up instead.
What do you guys think about Will's new shoes? Is this custom colorway straight fire or hot trash? Check them out in the post below.
