Will & Jaden Smith are doing their part to help Flint.
Flint's issue with clean water has been going on for nearly four years at this point and there's yet to be a solution to the problem. There's been studies that have shown the level of lead in the water are nearly 15 parts per billion higher than the federal limit. Many celebrities have done what they can to help the crisis and now, Will Smith and Jaden's company is using their platform to help the city until the lead levels decrease.
Will and Jaden Smith's eco-friendly water company, JUST, has vowed to donate water each month to the city until lead levels in the water at public schools significantly decrease. They've already donated 9200 bottles of water to Flint. JUST CEO Ira Laufer said donating water to the city was a obvious.
"This just makes sense for us to do," she said to MLIVE, "Jada Smith has visited Flint and met with the mayor. Flint is very dear to her heart ... After reading more about [Flint's] challenges and the mayor objecting to pulling bottled water from the schools, we thought 'Let's help these kids.'"
In February, results showed that five out of nine schools in Flint exceeded the federal water lead levels.
The father son duo launched JUST to help bring a greener alternative to plastic bottles. Their bottles come from renewable source and are 82% plant-based. Their water's comes from Glen Falls, NY and also contributes to the town's economy.
