Logic’s third studio album Everybody (formerly known as AfricAryan) is due out tomorrow, May 5. As the Maryland-born emcee has progressed through his six mixtapes and (almost) three albums, he has amassed a truly impressive legion of fans, who call themselves the RattPack. We decided to take a look at the relationship between Logic and his fans, and what makes Logic’s success unique.
Few fan groups are as divisive in the hip hop community, which means Logic is doing something right. The RattPack has propelled Logic to two top 5 appearances on the Billboard 200 chart, all without a song from any of his albums appearing on the Hot100 singles chart. That’s not how the music industry works these days, but Logic is defying his namesake because fans actually buy his albums.
Whether you like Logic and his fans or not, you have to respect his success in an era where artists’ relationships with their fans is increasingly tenuous.
