This week’s edition of What’s New In Battle Rap is, as always, filled with announcements for events to come soon. Ultimate Rap League has dropped a couple of huge match ups for “Night of Main Events 7”, which is living up to its name by all accounts. On the other side of things, King of the Dot is preparing for their “Blackout 7” event and they’ve got their own impressive announcements piling up for that. Of course, y’all are here for battles, and Arsonal is in a couple of these (despite having announced his retirement almost a year ago).

Chilla Jones vs Arsonal

What’s New In Battle Rap (Mar 18)

With talent like Chilla Jones and Arsonal, this battle probably should have been a classic by all reasoning. In reality, what’s been talked about most is how dead the crowd was. Even the hometown hero Arsonal didn’t seem to wake them up much. After Chilla’s second, the dude hosting even says “come on we need some more energy in here.”

Arsonal vs QB Black Diamond

This battle from Rare Breed Entertainment’s “Lift His Soul 3” literally has disrespectful in the title. If that’s what you came for, you certainly won’t be disappointed.

Real Deal vs Soul

Real Deal makes yet another trip to the Don’t Flop stage and battle Soul in Scotland. Soul, being Scottish and the Don’t Flop champ, had a clear home field advantage here but the crowd loved both MCs.

KG The Poet vs DNA

To be honest, everyone who watches battle rap is likely to have forgotten about this battle by now, as it happened half a year ago. But hey, it dropped recently and has a couple of big names so here it is.

Shotgun Suge vs Ave Announced for N.O.M.E. 7

What’s New In Battle Rap (Mar 18)

The announcement video for this battle plays a clip of Suge saying that people always say he’s the underdog. That’s not surprising because a quick scroll through the comments shows that quite a few people think Suge is gonna lose this one.

Brizz Rawsteen vs Ill Will Announced for N.O.M.E. 7

Brizz Rawsteen battled Arsonal at the last Night of Main Events, and while it’s nearly impossible to get a bigger name than that on URL, this Ill Will announcement surely did not disappoint the fans.

Blackout 7 Announcements

I was gonna do each announcement separately, but they dropped so many names in the past couple weeks I figured I’d save you the extra time and effort and just put them all together. Here we go: Aye Verb, Shotti P, Carter Deems, Marv Won, Jimz, Ness Lee, Chilla Jones, Chedda Cheese, Charron, Esem, Bonnie Godiva, Pnut, Aftershock, DNA, Quest Mcody. Keep in mind these are only the announcements made since our last battle rap article.

Method Man Is Hosting A Celebrity Rap Battle Show

What’s New In Battle Rap (Mar 18)

Hearing that Method Man is hosting a battle rap show sounds great, but the show is probably more similar to Wild ‘N Out than it is to Total Slaughter. The show, titled Drop The Mic, is named (and probably modeled) after a segment of The Late Late Show with James Corden, in which Corden battles various celebrities.

King of the Dot champion Rone was on twitter talking about filming an episode, so apparently he has some involvement with it as well.
