What’s New In Battle Rap (July 8)

Welcome back, battle fans. This week has been full of announcements from the two biggest American battle leagues, Ultimate Rap League and King of the Dot. URL is putting out news about their “Born Legacy Supreme” event, and KOTD has finished announcements for their “Massacre 3” event. We’ve also got retirement news about one of KOTD’s favorite MCs. But what would this be without some battles to start you off with? Enjoy.

In this two on two battle from “Bullpen vs QOTR”, the aptly named “Gun Bibles” team from Bullpen takes on Phara Funeral and Shooney, the first female team to do a two on two.

Following a huge battle with T-Rex, K-Shine proves he’s still down to participate in smaller profiler battles by clashing with Ty Law for Do or Die Battle League.

King of the Dot’s “Blackout 7” matched Harlem vet Swave Sevah against Detroit rising star Shotti P. Knowing about Shotti’s recent Massacre 3 announcement, this battle appears to be another stepping stone to battle rap fame.

Shots Fired battle league hosted an event in San Diego where two of Cali’s best new battlers went head to head. Both Geechi and Flex have been gaining momentum and this battle is a reminder of why.

King of the Dot, after announcing each of their battles separately, have put out the trailer for their upcoming event Massacre 3. Many are calling this the best lineup in quite some time, as almost every battle on the main card could be a main event matchup.

URL started off their announcements for “Born Legacy Supreme” in a huge way. Chess is coming off a very big battle with Tay Roc and JC has maintained a reputation of being one of the best writers in battle rap for a while.

Chef Trez is one of URL’s rising stars, and with the opponents he’s starting to get it’s easy to see why. Rum Nitty has never been one to play with, so this should be an interesting match.

This announcement seems to have the most “Rookies vs Vets” feeling to it, as Big T has been battling on URL since what seems like the beginning of time. Mike P on the other hand is still making his name, but has done a good job of doing so.

Nu Jerzey Twork has made a name for himself at URL’s “Born Legacy” events, the last of which pitted him against Qleen Paper. Now he’s got another Michigan MC in his battle with Ill Will.

Detroit MC Qleen Paper returns to the “Born Legacy” stage after his battle with NJ Twork. This time his opponent is Mr. “It’s in the car” himself, Reed Dollaz.

Gjonaj recently took to Facebook to announce that he is retired “or quit” indefinitely. Health, his job, and other issues were given as his reason for leaving. Battle rap retirements are rarely permanent, but we wish him the best whether he decides to return or not.
