Check out Mahalia's new "I Wish I Missed My Ex" track.
This week, English singer-songwriter Mahalia decided to drop off her latest “I Wish I Missed My Ex” single and in conjunction with it, comes through with the aesthetically alluring video to accompany it.
If you squint, you’ll find that the new clip, directed by Andrew Litten, is reminiscent of the Spike Jonze-directed music video for Pharcyde’s “Drop” as it is shot in reverse over the course of 22 hours.
"I hired a linguist from UCLA to teach Mahalia the song backwards which she surprisingly learned in two days," Litten tells Complex. "The DP, Dustin Lane, and I have always wanted to make something in our neighborhood Highland Park. We chose family-owned locations and hired a few extras while scouting the neighborhood. Mahalia's reversed performance oozes spontaneity and confidence. I can't thank her enough for joining us on the journey, and signing on to recreate this insane concept."
