Jimmy Fallon performs the popular Drake single as the 1960s folk icon.
Bob Dylan is legendary for his off-kilter singing style almost as much as his prolific career as a folk and rock artist. Last night, Jimmy Fallon applied Dylan’s unmistakable sound to arguably the most popular song of 2015, “Hotline Bling.”
If that sounds like blasphemy… well, you aren’t wrong. However, the rendition sounds alright, given that Fallon was actually performing the song live. Props to Fallon for that.
In a way, it’s a testament to how impressive of a pop song “Hotline Bling” really is. The show also does a great job of replicating the look of Bob Dylan’s old concert and music videos, with haphazard zooms and the grainy texture of old VHS recordings.
Since we’re unlikely to get an actual Bob Dylan cover of “Hotline Bling,” we’ll have to settle for Fallon’s version.
